The Scuderia Toro Rosso STR10 marked the beginning of one of Formula One’s greatest modern careers. In 2015, a 17-year-old Max Verstappen became the youngest driver in F1 history, making his debut with Toro Rosso and immediately turning the sport upside down.
This chassis — STR10-02 — is the car in which Max completed the majority of his rookie season.
Toro Rosso built only four STR10 chassis for 2015. Max used STR10-02 for 13 of the 19 Grands Prix, including the winter tests in Jerez and Barcelona. After his Monaco crash in chassis 03, Max switched to this car and went on to score points in nine races, including his two best results of the season:
P4 in Hungary and P4 in the United States Grand Prix.
The STR10-02 is regarded as the chassis that revealed Verstappen’s extraordinary talent to the world — a defining early chapter in his rise to becoming a triple World Champion.
Unveiled at Jerez on 31 January 2015, the STR10 represented a major technical step for the Faenza team. Designed under Technical Director James Key, the car incorporated a new aerodynamic philosophy, refined internal packaging, and the updated FIA nose regulations of the 2015 season.
Team Principal Franz Tost described the STR10 as the most complete Toro Rosso ever built up to that point, benefiting from improved engineering processes and stronger performance from the Renault power unit.
As both Verstappen and Carlos Sainz Jr. began their rookie seasons in this car, the STR10 programme became one of the most influential in Toro Rosso history — launching two of the sport’s most successful modern drivers.
In 2019, Ron Reinders acquired STR10-02 directly from Scuderia Toro Rosso in Italy.
The sale included full official documentation, the original purchase contract, photographs of the handover with Team Principal Franz Tost, and video footage of the power unit installation.
Over the following six years, the car remained in the private collection of Ron Reinders, maintained in exceptional condition and displayed as one of the most important assets within the GP CARS 4 SALE collection.
STR10-02 is presented in outstanding, concours condition and retains an unusually complete specification for a modern-era F1 car:
Original Renault Energy F1-2015 V6 Turbo Hybrid power unit
(internals, battery pack and ECU removed, as commonly done by teams)
Original Verstappen race seat
Original steering wheel, including the genuine Toro Rosso travel case and full digital function overview
Red Bull Technology 8-speed + reverse gearbox, hydraulically actuated, sequential paddle shift
Complete suspension, radiators, pedals, dampers, bodywork, wheels, brakes and cabling
Toro Rosso F1 car cover
60-page STR10 reference book (Edition 10) created together with Toro Rosso and an F1 journalist — including comments from Max Verstappen about his 2015 season
Complete set of race results and technical datasheets from 2015
This unrivalled level of completeness makes STR10-02 one of the most authentic and historically valuable modern F1 chassis available anywhere in the world.
Max Verstappen’s rookie chassis represent some of the most sought-after modern Formula One cars. STR10-02 occupies a unique position:
the early-career machine that revealed Verstappen’s raw ability — long before he became one of the most dominant drivers of his generation.
With most Toro Rosso chassis from this era held tightly in private collections, opportunities like this are exceptionally rare.
