This Porsche 959 is a very close copy (not in technical terms) of the 959 that participated in this legendary rally in Dakar driven by Jacky Ickx. The 959 was built in Germany based on a Porsche 911 (just like the original) from 1978 with a 959 body. The developer/engineer of the Dakar Porsche, Roland Kussmaul, played an advisory role in the construction of this rebuild of the Dakar Porsche 959.
History fo this car:
The Porsche 911 3.0 SC (1978) is originally from the USA and the conversion has started in Germany to make it a Porsche 959. The engine that is fitted is a 3.0 liter Porsche 911 block. After that, the entire project stood still for about 20 years until a German car enthusiast bought the car back in 2017 to finish this project. Unfortunately, this German owner became very ill and said goodbye to the project too. We bought the car in December 2020 but not make it a 959 road car, but to build the car after the legendary 959 Dakar from 1985.
The car will be ready for display to the general public in the course of 2021. There are now a number of Porsche magazines that follow the construction and will report on it.
